Truth in online dating can be tough to see. Online dating is a great way to meet new people, people you might not have meet through work or going out with friends. Online dating is also a great way to weed out the bad ones.
Sometimes it isn’t so easy to tell if the person on the other side of the keyboard is being truthful and it can be either men or women. My experience has been with guys not being who they say they are. I once later found out that an ex-boyfriend of mine would post pictures of a model and say it was him. He would also put in his profile that he was open to trying new things, hardworking and was always honest. (Yes I happened to be matched up with him on a dating site and I laughed out loud when I saw it.) I have had other guys lie about their job, their interests and their past. You would be matched with guys who would say they are open to trying to new things or they like certain movies but you find out later they are the complete opposite of who they are. When you find out in the first or even third date, you start to reconsider taking things further with this other person.
Men and women sometimes put old pictures up to impress online. Though I would put up recent pictures of myself, I would make sure the picture was more like a headshot than a full body shot. I wasn’t being entirely truthful about who I was and that is no way to start things.
There CAN Be Truth in Dating
We hide those things we don’t like about ourselves but it is better to be truthful about who you are in the beginning because you never know, the person on the other side of the keyboard might like those things about you.
