I like blonde haired blue eye guys who are fair skinned and look like the boy next door. Unfortunately, I have not had much luck with that type. But, it certainly is what I am drawn too. My most successful relationships have been with brown haired and brown or hazel eyed guys who have a youthful look to them. Although, I have found older men with white air seem to really like me. But, that just is not my type.
So, I did some experimenting. I contacted online or dated guys who fell outside my normal physical parameter of what I thought was attractive. It proved interesting. I have to admit, that I found a sea of some very nice guys who had a lot to offer.
If I am being completely honest, I did go out with several older guys with white hair and were a bit more settled and I felt like I was on a date with my uncle. That just did not work. But, I at least tried.
One person who was most intriguing to me was a man, who had floppy brown hair, hazel eyes, and had a slightly rotund silhouette, but he had the cutest and most engaging smile and one tooth was just ever so slightly crooked. His eyes sparkled when he laughed, and on occasion, a dimple appeared. I am a sucker for a dimple. His sharp mind, quick wit, sophisticated style and gentle gentlemanliness caught my intention. I was not attracted at first, but as I got to know him, I was wildly attracted to him. And not just one physical attribute … all of him. His outwardly presence and his inwardly good soul. Unfortunately, that did not work as we were both at different points in our life and wanted different things.
It taught me a lesson that sometimes what we need is not what we thought we needed. Sometimes, what we are really attracted to is not what our eye may first seek out. And, sometimes, a 2nd look at a person can reveal a true treasure.
So, go outside your comfort zone and try contacting someone who does not fall into your picture of what you think is the perfect guy. You may be very surprised … especially if it involves a walk down an aisle with an I DO at the end!
