We managed to grab a few moments recently with Tristan Coopersmith and hold her down long enough
to ask some questions…to be fair she then beat us up and ran away…
Hi, tell us a little about yourself and your organisation?
I’m a Love Stylist (see below), an author, a writer, a radio hostess sometimes, a wife, a stepmommy, a mommy, a graduate psych student, a former trend forecaster, a candy addict, and a beach junkie who is on a constant quest to find the best vintage dress and help bring more healthy love into the world.
At TristanCoopersmith.com I provide constant content to help singles and couples on their love journeys through the advice, personal stories, Q&A, boy’s eye views and hands on assignments. Separately, I operate a boutique date coaching agency to help individual women with their specific love obstacles.
Tell us exactly what a love stylist is?
Just like people who want a healthy lifestyle might enlist the help of a trainer or nutritionist. to determine what about their current regimen is preventing them from becoming their ideal physical self, and then adjust it to get moving in the right direction… as a love stylist, I help my clients in a similar way, to help them create a healthy lovestyle. In doing so, I guide my clients towards unearthing their key love challenges and then we face them head and heart on to overcome them. We set goals for their love lives and step by step, activity by activity we achieve them. We do this in a variety of ways (talking, physical activity, mindfulness, art therapy, journaling and more) but at the end of the day, it is all about results. It is about identifying the roots of ineffective behaviors and replacing them with productive, positive ones.
What do you absolutely love about being a love stylist?
In short, EVERYTHING! I love helping women recognize and then create the love life that they deserve. My favorite part is probably when clients have a major breakthrough in regards to their habits, and when that breakthrough serves as the catalyst for positive change. I also love it when former clients email me with news that they have found healthy, happy love and it is working, thanks to our work together!
Have you ever failed at helping someone restyle their love life?
LOL… success is hard to measure in my business. I like to set realistic goals based on where my clients are at emotionally. Sometimes this means that the success metric is simply learning to flirt effectively, sometimes it means they have worked through all of their daddy issues, othertimes it means that they have healed from an abusive relationship… and anything you can think of in between.
When a client doesn’t achieve their goals, it is because, in my opinion, they aren’t ready -because they are too afraid. Creating change takes serious soul work – if you aren’t willing to put in the effort, I can’t help you. It is a joint effort and experience.
What do you think about online dating?
I think it is fantastic! Then again, I think any medium to fall in love is
Connection can happen anywhere so long as you are open to it. Online dating has its downsides to it but anything does – the key is to focus on the upsides, and to try it ALL. To me experience is a daters best friend.
Whats next for the Love Stylist?
I’m finishing up my graduate work in clinical psychology so that I can help my clients in more facets of their lives other than dating. I’m also working on my second book and gearing up to do offer Skype sessions for international clients.
