So, I’ve been communicating on another dating site (I know, I know – the betrayal, the horror) with an eligible bachelor.  He’s close to my age, lives nearby, and is also a Joanna1 Am I too damn picky? by @SingleSassyBlogworkaholic.  Perfect for me!

This morning he sent me an email – sweet, thoughtful – but he made a reference to something that made him laugh and I thought to myself, “Self: he thinks he’s being funny but I don’t see it.”  And suddenly, I lost interest.  I flashed back to my ex, who sent me a YouTube video of his attempt at stand up comedy, and it sucked.  I had to force myself to laugh when we watched it together so I didn’t seem like a total raging bitch.

I felt like a complete asshole.  Here I was, talking to a really nice guy, and I was about to cut off communication because of a lame joke.

So, guess what I did?

My first inclination was to stop writing to you.  But, I sucked it up and continued writing to him.

And despite his consistent use of the term “LOL” I’m still communicating with him.  And truth be told, he’s lovely.

    The LOLs from grown men bothered me enormously for the longest time, but I finally grew accustomed to the fact that is just part of the online/texting lingo of the day…and some people just misuse and/or abuse it. :-P
    If he’s lovely other than his occasional awkward attempts at humor, meet him and give him a chance to be comfortable with you in person. If you’re still not feeling it, then it’s just a matter of preferences and there’s nothing wrong that. A shared sense of humor can be really key to that chemistry of a good relationship for many people, myself included.
