If you date single women or single men, when should you update your relationship on Facebook?
Your relationship on Facebook status
Half the world are on Facebook and all with their relationship status on view to the world (taking into consideration privacy of course!). Our feeds are full of people splitting up, getting together, getting engaged, getting married and of course, getting complicated. It’s no wonder that Facebook can cause sleepless nights, and many many bottles of wine or beer with your friends over your relationship status.
Is it right? Should I ask? Should he/she ask first? What does it mean? Are going out? Is it too soon?
Why aren’t we in a relationship on Facebook?
The big question looms early on in an relationship. It’s not, are we going to be forever, will he/she marry me? NO. It’s that small change in your relationship status. Who requests who? Do you say you’re in a relationship but not with whom. What if he doesn’t accept that you’re in a relationship together on Facebook. Does that mean he’s hiding something? Have you started the downward turn of your relationship by asking?
The fact of the matter is, if you are a single girl, single woman or single man and you date single women, single men and single girls, this is something you’re going to have to face.
You can’t just ignore Facebook for the first 6 months of a relationship and hope it all blows over. Take the bullet and just do it. Change your status or have the chat that says, yes I like you but no, I’m not ready to shout my private life over Facebook. Whoever you’re with should respect that. You’re in a relationship with each other, not to show your Facebook friends that you can keep a boyfriend or girlfriend, or show them off.
Don’t hide away from the conversation, that conversation is here to stay in any relationship, young or old.
